Starting Therapy – what you can expect

When beginning your rehab or skilled nursing stay at Premier Rehab, one of the many transitions you will make is to begin therapy. With Premier Rehab, you’ll typically have an evaluation done by our skilled occupational, physical, and speech therapists within your first 24 hours of arriving. Once you’ve been evaluated and your therapists know your goals for recovery, you’ll start going to therapy 5 days a week.

Therapy can be done in many different settings. You might imagine going to a gym for rehab, but our therapists can also work with you in your own room, outside on the grounds, in the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry areas. At Premier Rehab, we strive to make therapy and rehab as fun and interactive as possible.

One thing to know about the rehab setting is that we are focused not only on making you stronger, but also on improving your functional mobility.

We want to help you get back to your normal routines with less pain and more independence. Our goals are your goals and we want to help you go back to your home with a renewed sense of independence and confidence.

If you would like more information regarding your transition from a hospital to a skilled nursing or rehabilitation program, see our September 25, 2019 blog post, “Who’s going to take care of me?”.
