Message from our Medical Director

I just want to start by saying thank you for your interest in what we have to offer at Maranatha Village.

My name is Sheri Bethmann. I am a physician at Mercy Hospital, the medical director for Seasons Hospice and Maranatha Village. I grew up in Springfield Missouri, went to Drury University for my undergraduate training, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and then did my residency at the University of Missouri Columbia. I am a family medicine physician with advance certification in geriatrics.

I generally spend three days a week on campus at Maranatha Village. Two of those days are spent at Premier Rehab and the other day at the Lodge rounding on long-term care patients. I pride myself in keeping my practice small so that I can be dedicated to my panel of patients. I am on call 24/7 for my patients, so even when I am not on campus I am still available to the nursing staff.

When a patient gets discharged from the hospital, we have a dedicated admissions nurse that carefully reviews the orders from the discharging physician and I review the discharge summary to ensure that there is a smooth transition of care. I generally see patients within a couple of days of admission and then I round on patients once a week. I attend our care plan meetings, so I am highly involved in the decision making regarding each and everyone of my patients care.

We have contracts with mobile x-ray, lab and wound care which allows higher acuity of care within our facility. We also have a Cox physician, Dr. Snider, that rounds on all of our Cox patients. The benefit of having both a Mercy and Cox doctor is that we have access to the electronic medical records at each hospital system. This provides better continuity of care and access to specialists outside of the rehab facility.

As a team we strive to provide excellent care for all of our patients, with the goal of helping each of them to return to their prior level of function. I have always had a love for the elderly and I thoroughly enjoy coming to work each and every day. It would be an honor to care for you or one of your loved ones in the future. Please do not hesitate to call or reach should you have questions.
